What does 50mm change in real assignments?

At a wedding or during reportage, 50mm lets the photographer frame a face, gesture or exchange without moving as close as a wide-angle lens would require. Perspective remains natural and the surrounding scene does not disappear completely. At F1.4, it becomes easier to maintain a practical shutter speed in a church, reception room or dim street, then stop down when several people need to remain sharp.

Honest limitations of this configuration
