How the 50mm view changes the photograph

Limitations worth understanding before purchase

Fifty millimetres can feel restrictive in a small room and cannot replace a wide-angle lens for architecture or a telephoto for distant sport and wildlife. At F1.4 and close range, focus placement is unforgiving. The lens can photograph details, but its 0.41m AF distance and 0.16x maximum magnification do not make it a macro lens.

The Sony A7 V with 24-105mm F4 G OSS is more rational when one lens must cover wide views through tighter portraits. The 35mm F1.4 GM kit retains more context for documentary work.
